The following list of books are I consider valuable reading in this subject, mostly they are available still, but all have been reprinted and are readily available from libraries and book sellers. There are of course many others, unfortunately out of print and very difficult now to find. For a comprehensive list of those I would direct you to the Society of Ornamental Turnings web site.

One thing I would point out is that any lathe books prior to the 1920's had an element of OT in them and gave a lot of information that today is long forgotten.
